Optum Encoder Pro (EncoderPro.com, formally) runs $299.95 to $999.95 per user per year across three tiers, after a 30-day free trial with no purchase necessary. It is a serious tool. It is also priced and built for organizations rather than for the individual coder, and the tier with the compliance content in it costs $999.95.
Check this first. CPT codes aren't included yet. There is no surgical DRG grouper and no CAC or CDI workflow either. What you get is ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and HCPCS Level II lookup, and diagnosis-level claim checks with Medicare coverage, fees and HCC scoring. If you code physician procedures all day, stay with what you have.

- Multi-user licenses and add-on modules are sold separately and are not publicly priced.
- Optum does offer a genuine Encoder Pro free trial of 30 days with no purchase necessary, which is longer than ours.
Why coders move
The tier you need is the expensive one
Standard at $299.95 is a lookup box, and it is cheaper than we are. If that is genuinely all you want, buy it. The compliance checking lives in Expert, at $999.95 per user. Ours is $390, and there is only one version.
Enterprise software, individual coder
EncoderPro is shaped by the payers and health systems that buy it in volume. If you are one coder or a five-person practice, you are not the customer it was designed around, and it shows in every screen.
Nobody shows you how old the data is
We put the release and effective date of every dataset on the screen where you are using it. It is a small thing until the day an LCD changed and nobody told you.
What you give up by switching
Written by us, about them. If any of these matter more to you than the price, stay where you are: we would rather you did that than pay us for a year and find out.

Locked out of EncoderPro?
The Optum EncoderPro.com login is at encoderpro.com/epro. That is Optum’s page and your credentials go to Optum; there is no login form here and never will be. If their page recognizes you and still refuses you, it is almost always one of four things, and only Optum can fix any of them.
The subscription lapsed
EncoderPro is an annual subscription. When it ends the account is deactivated rather than deleted, so the login page still recognizes you and still refuses you. Optum support can reactivate it.
A trial ended
Optum's 30-day trial needs no purchase and cancels itself: good practice, and it means access simply stops on day 30 with nothing to warn you first.
The seat was reassigned
Licenses are per user. On an organizational account an administrator can move your seat to somebody else, and from where you sit it looks identical to an expired password.
The password expired
Use the forgot-password link on Optum's sign-in page. Any site other than Optum's offering to reset an EncoderPro password should be closed immediately.
