Looking for a Find-A-Code alternative?
Find-A-Code — findacode.com, to everyone who types it into a search bar — is genuinely comprehensive, with more code sets and cross-references than anyone. It is also $750 a year for the Expert tier before add-ons, and the interface has not meaningfully changed in a decade. MedicalCodingSoftware.org is $390 with nothing to add on.
Check this first. CPT codes aren't included yet. There is no surgical DRG grouper and no CAC or CDI workflow either. What you get is ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and HCPCS Level II lookup, and diagnosis-level claim checks with Medicare coverage, fees and HCC scoring. If you code physician procedures all day, stay with what you have.
This is our real search, on the real index. Try it before you give us anything.

Why coders move
The advertised price is not the price
Expert is $750/yr. Then Commercial Payer Policies is $200 more, Provider Documentation Guides another $200, the CPT Advanced Pack another $300. A realistic working seat lands well past $1,000. Our $390 has no modules to bolt on because there are no modules.
The answer is always three clicks away
The data is all there. Getting to it is the problem. We put the answer above the fold — billable status, exclusions, and the seventh-character rule — before you have to click anything.
There is no trial you can just take
Find-A-Code will not let you try it without requesting a demo first. Ours is seven days, starts immediately, and never asks for a card.
What you give up by switching
Written by us, about them. If any of these matter more to you than the price, stay where you are — we would rather you did that than pay us for a year and find out.
- CPT content, which we don't include yet
- Genuinely enormous breadth: more code sets and cross-references than anyone
- Commercial payer policies, which we do not cover
- An AI coding assistant, 'Aimee', which they let you try without subscribing
Switching costs you nothing but the subscription: this is reference data, so there is no migration, no import, and nothing to set up. If we are wrong for you, you will know inside the seven days, and we never took a card.
One more axis worth comparing before you decide: most encoders now sell autonomous AI coding. Our position on AI medical coding software is different — assistive and citation-anchored, never a confident code you are asked to take on trust.
Common questions
- How much does Find-A-Code cost?
- Find-A-Code costs $450/yr (Professional), $750/yr (Expert), $950/yr (Facility / ASC), as published on innoviHealth's own pricing page and verified August 4, 2026.
- Is there a cheaper alternative to Find-A-Code?
- MedicalCodingSoftware.org is $390 per year with everything included and a 7-day free trial that does not require a card. Note that Find-A-Code's entry tier may be cheaper than that if all you need is code lookup; the comparison that matters is against the tier that includes compliance checking.
- Is there a free encoder for medical coding?
- Partly, and the limit is worth understanding before you rely on one. Our ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and HCPCS Level II lookups are free with no account and no card — that covers every diagnosis code, every inpatient procedure code, and the drugs, supplies and equipment codes. What no free tool can include is CPT: those descriptors are licensed by the AMA, so any encoder offering CPT is paying for it and charging you accordingly. If your work is diagnosis-led, a free lookup genuinely is enough. If you code physician procedures all day, it is not, and anyone telling you otherwise is either unlicensed or about to ask for your card.
Try it for a week. Keep your card in your wallet.
